NIT Raipur celebrates International Yoga Day

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga with a vibrant event at Science College Ground on 21st June 2024 in the morning. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, who attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur, led the Yoga Protocol which was enthusiastically followed by students as well as faculty members. Organized with support from the state government, the event underscored the institute’s dedication to fostering holistic well-being. Dr. P.Y. Dhekne, Registrar, Dr. Nitin Jain, Dean (Student Welfare), along with faculty members, research scholars, and students, actively participated in the State Level Yoga Mahotsav.

Following this, an event was organized at the institute to commemorate the 10th International Day of Yoga. Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Dr. Shrish Verma, Dean (Academics), Dr. P.Y. Dhekne, and Dr. Nitin Jain were present during the event. During this event, faculty members, their family members, scholars and students were present. The event was coordinated by Dr Nitin jain ,Dean (SW) Dr. Manju Shukla, Yoga Faculty, DHSS and Dr. Suraj Nishad,Yoga Faculty, DHSS.

The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting and a warm welcome extended to the guests with saplings. Dr. Manju Shukla highlighted the significance of Yoga Day, stating that yoga fosters health, discipline, and balance. Dr. Shrish Verma discussed the true meaning of yoga, explaining that it signifies “union” and highlighting the importance of harmonizing our body, mind, and soul. He advocated for the practice of meditation, noting that the more one meditates, the more one becomes like still water, achieving a state of calm and tranquility. He also congratulated the team on the successful organization of the event, commending their efforts in promoting the vital practice of holistic well-being. Dr. P.Y. Dhekne reminisced about his past experiences with yoga, sharing that the practice brings him a sense of calm. He emphasized that regular yoga not only fosters tranquility but also significantly improves overall health. Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao congratulated the organizing team for the event, emphasizing that yoga is not merely an exercise but a holistic approach to achieving a healthy mind and body. He highlighted that the practice of yoga imparts balance, flexibility, and resilience. He encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga and meditation into their daily routines, as it contributes significantly to mental and physical health. He also shared that, nowadays, every doctor recommends practicing yoga, urging everyone to make it a part of their daily lives.
During the event, the scholars and the faculties children’s performed yoga on the spiritual songs Namo-Namo Hi Shankara and Adiyogi. With this, the yoga camp which was going on for a month in NIT Raipur also concluded. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sandip Sarkar, Hod(I/c), DHSS.
