2 min read

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): Congress MLA from insurgency-hit Gariaband district Janak Ram Dhruv has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing concern about his security and requested him to provide ‘Y+’ category security. Bindranawagarh (ST) MLA Dhruv said that his house is located six kilometers away from the place where a security personnel was killed in an IED blast during the assembly elections last year, so as an elected representative he feels unsafe to move around with weak security.

Dhruv has ‘X’ category security and has demanded ‘Y+’ category security with better security. Dhruv said, ‘A security personnel was killed in a major Naxal explosion during the recently held assembly elections. The incident spot is just five kilometers away from my house and I do not want any untoward incident to happen in such a sensitive area. A similar incident had happened during the tenure of the former MLA. I have raised this issue several times in letters and also in the assembly so that I can be provided better security. I have to go to the interior areas for travels. If something happens to me, the state government will be responsible for it. He said that MLAs in Bastar have got ‘Y+’ category security and he should also be given this security. He has lost sleep at night due to fear. Dhruv said that there is also a problem of frequent power outages at night.

Dhruv said that he has written a letter to Union Home Minister Shah, State Home Minister Vijay Sharma and DGP on this issue. In the letter written to Shah, Dhruv has written that he is also the state president of the tribal wing of the Congress Party and Bindranwagarh is a Naxal-affected area. Therefore, he should be given ‘Y+’ category security so that he can come and go safely in his assembly constituency.
