Do not misuse alarm chain in trains

Raipur(Team Newsbuddy) : South East Central Railway, Raipur Railway Division appeals to the passengers to avoid pulling the alarm chain in trains for minor reasons without any proper reason and it should be resorted to only during emergency situations. Alarm chains are provided in trains for the convenience of passengers to deal with security issues so that any untoward incident can be prevented from occurring.

Alarm chain pulling (ACP) is a major reason for the delay in rail services across India. Abnormal stopping of any train not only affects the punctuality of that particular train but also affects the punctuality of all the trains running behind it, as well as wastes valuable time of railway passengers. In this regard, on the complaint of continuous chain pulling by railway passengers in Raipur division, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Raipur, Shri Raman Kumar ordered to form a RPF team and take action at Railway Station Bhilai Power House. Action was taken by the Railway Protection Force team against the people pulling the chain without proper reason in train number 18202 Navtanwa – Durg.

As soon as the train passed through, it stopped due to chain pulling horn. Immediately the RPF officers and force members present there got into action and stopped the passengers who got down from the said train and asked them the reason for getting down at Bhilai Power House without stoppage.

On checking the tickets of the passengers by the TTE, it was found that most of the passengers had tickets for travelling till Durg but got down at Bhilai Power House after pulling the chain. Due to lack of sufficient and proper reason, 01 person who pulled the chain was arrested under Section 141 of the Railway Act. Out of them, 6 passengers were arrested under Section 147 of Railway Act and 10 persons were arrested under Section 145B of Railway Act. A fine of Rs.1640/- was collected from seven persons through TT. All legal proceedings were conducted against 24 passengers and they were released on bond after warning them.
