Program on Role of Youth in drug-free society, elephant conservation held

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): The National Service Scheme (NSS) organized an event at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur to mark International Youth Day. The program commenced with a welcome address by Professor L.S. Gajpal, NSS Program Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of drug-free living and societal development. He also discussed the relationship between drug abuse and HIV.
The Chief Guest, Ajay Singh from the Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Society, provided information on preventive measures against HIV/AIDS. Special Guest Ajay Srivastava from Sankalp Institute explained how international companies are ensnaring youth with products like gutkha, alcohol, and cigarettes. He highlighted the plight of youth trapped in drug addiction through examples from states like Punjab, and warned that Chhattisgarh is gaining national recognition as a state with high drug use, which has devastated countless families.
To commemorate World Elephant Day, the program included a short film on elephant conservation, encouraging pledges for their protection. Dr. Sunil Tiwari gave the vote of thanks. Distinguished attendees included Professor Daharwal, Director of the Pharmacy Institute, and Rama Patel Singh from the Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Society, along with NSS volunteers, school students, and college students.
The awareness program aimed to inspire youth to stay away from drugs, engage in elephant conservation, and contribute to building a healthier society.
