IIT Bhilai, NIT Raipur, CSVTU Bhilai organise Implementation of Multiple Entry & Multiple Exit System

IIT Bhilai, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur and CSVTU Bhilai organised Implementation of Multiple Entry & Multiple Exit System and Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) under the aegis of AICTE and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi. A two-day event focusing on the implementation of the Multiple Entry & Multiple Exit (MEME) System and the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) was organized by IIT Bhilai in collaboration with NIT Raipur and CSVTU Bhilai on 13th and 14th September 2024. This event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Sanjay Agrawal (Pro VC, CSVTU Bhilai), Dr. Dhruv Pratap Singh (Dean of Academic Affairs, IIT Bhilai), Dr. Anuj Kumar Shukla (Assistant Prof. Mechanical Engineering, NIT Raipur), Ravi Prakash Tiwari and Retd. Pro. Dr. Ranjit Prasad NIT Jamshedpur.

The inaugural ceremony commenced at 9:30 am on 13th September, where Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, welcomed the distinguished guests and emphasized the need to integrate local languages, traditions, and culture into academic curricula. He highlighted the role of inclusive education in promoting wider participation and learning. Following the welcome address, Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Raipur, shared his institution’s experiences with implementing MEME and ABC. He emphasized the successes and challenges faced in supporting working professionals in their continued education.

The Special address was given by Dr. Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi, breaking the barriers and creating Multidisciplinary Education, Vocationalization and Skill Development, and suggest for including Spirituality with Education explored the National Education Policy 2020, and focusing on how MEME and ABC can foster student-centric learning and drive innovation in education. Prafull Pradeep Ketkar, Editor, ORGANIZER emphasized the importance of understanding cultural values in the National Education Policy (NEP) and highlighted the need to integrate interdisciplinary institutions for the effective implementation of NEP.

During the panel discussion, several challenges in implementing MEME and ABC were identified, including insufficient faculty, complex credit transfer systems, and institutional rank issues. Suggestions were provided for establishing a robust Management Information System (MIS), standardizing degree names, and encouraging modular course structures. Key takeaways from the discussions stressed the importance of collaborations between institutions, improving credit transfer mechanisms, enhancing faculty development programs, and integrating tribal knowledge with modern education systems.

The concluding panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Rajiv Prakash, included esteemed panelists such as Prof. Laxmidhar Behera and Prof. G.S. Murthy. The discussion revolved around designing course structures aligned with IKS, initiating teacher training, and incorporating hands-on practical sessions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Dhruv Pratap Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs at IIT Bhilai, acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, organizers, and participants.

This event marked a significant step forward in fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the practical implementation of MEME, ABC, and IKS in higher education
