Huge cache of weapons including AK-47 recovered
Dantewada (Team Newsbuddy): Security forces in Chhattisgarh have launched the biggest operation against Maoists on Friday. An encounter is going on between security forces and Naxalites on the border of Dantewada-Narayanpur district. So far 36 Naxalites have been reported killed in the encounter. Bodies of 14 of them have been recovered. Along with this, a large number of automated weapons have been recovered. This encounter took place in the Abujhmad area of the district. Search operation of Naxalites is going on in Maad area on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border.
Actually, on Friday, the security forces received information from an informer that the Naxalites are planning to carry out a major incident in the forest. After receiving the information, the force was sent to the spot. Seeing the soldiers coming, the Naxalites started firing. The soldiers also retaliated. Seeing the soldiers getting the upper hand, the Naxalites retreated from the spot. Many rewarded Naxalites are also reported to have been killed in this encounter. The police have also demolished the Naxalite company number 6.
Bastar region’s Inspector General of Police (IG) Sundarraj P said that 30 Naxalites have been killed in an encounter by the security forces in the forest of Thulthuli village of Abujhmad in the border of Narayanpur-Dantewada district. So far 14 bodies have been found. The security force team included District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) personnel.
Intermittent firing
Police officials said that after the incident, the security forces also retaliated. Intermittent firing is going on in the area. It has been reported that all the soldiers are safe in the encounter. According to IG P. Sundararaj, it will take time to get the complete update of the encounter, as it is night time. Intermittent firing is going on from both sides.
CM Vishnudev Sai had visited Dantewada
Before the encounter with the Naxalites, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai had visited Dantewada this morning. Here on Friday, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works worth Rs 167.21 crore along with Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh.
