On day 1, the inaugural ceremony was honoured by the presence of Dr. (Mrs.) A. B. Soni, Director (I/c), NIT Raipur as the Guest of Honor, Dr. Anil Verma, Professor, IIT Delhi as the Chief Guest and the keynote speaker for the event, Dr. Vijaya Rangari, Professor, Tuskegee University, AL, as the Special Guest. Dr. Amit Keshav, Dr. Dharm Pal and Dr. R. Manivannan served as the secretaries for the conference. Various faculty members, PhD scholars, students and participants were present during this informative conference. The main sponsor of this program is Dept of Science and Technology – Anusandhan National Research Foundation and the co-sponsor is Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCOST).
The inauguration ceremony commenced with the recitation of the national song, “Vande Mataram” after this Dr. Amit Keshav, Hod, Chemical Engineering provided insights into the department’s contributions and highlighted the scope of research in positive and negative effects of Nanotechnology thereby emphasizing the necessity of separation of nano materials to minimize environmental pollution.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Manwendra K. Tripathi shared that the field Nanotechnology and Environmental sciences is not only restricted to the prowess of chemical engineering but also materials engineering, biotechnology, physics and chemistry.
Dr. A. B. Soni greeted everyone and laid down the key points of the meeting by stating the pivotal role of Nanotechnology in the industrial sector and its application in solar energy capture, health monitoring and the role of catalysts for reactions thereby expressing it as an indispensable alternative source of energy.
Dr. Vijay K. Rangari motivated students for their zealous participation in the ongoing research regarding Nanotechnology and Environment, elucidating its transformative impact on the development of our country.
The event reached a figurative pinnacle by the publication of the abstract booklet followed by the felicitation of the chief guest and special guests with the presentation of mementos symbolising a gesture of appreciation.
Dr. Anil Verma, the distinguished keynote speaker from IIT Delhi, addressed the extraction and utilization of vanadium and accentuated the uses of numerous semiconductors in our day to day lives. He drew everyone’s attention to the never-ending scope of chemical engineering as it is deeply intertwined to manufacture and production on an industrial scale. He shared his valuable insights on Vanadium redox flow batteries – their charging, discharging and circulation. He deeply emphasized on India’s 5-point plan committed on COP 26 meeting (glasgow-2021) reiterating the paramount importance of renewable sources of energy.
The NCNE – 2024 conference was an ideal forum for interdisciplinary collaborations as it featured oral presentations and interactive poster presentations by numerous researchers and students.
