Indore: India’s cleanest city, Indore has reaffirmed its position as a trailblazer in urban waste management, with its groundbreaking zero-waste model earning national recognition. Rupa Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, lauded the city’s innovative approach, calling it a template for other Indian cities aiming for sustainability.
During her visit to the city, Mishra toured Ward 47, the city’s zero-waste emblem, and was impressed by the seamless waste segregation and recycling processes. The Material Recovery Facility showcased efficient sorting of dry waste into recyclable materials, while the RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Center stood out as a hub for citizen education on minimizing waste. At the Plastic Waste Processing Plant, she observed how discarded plastic is transformed into reusable products, contributing to the fight against plastic pollution.
The entire operation, managed by Human Matrix Secureite in collaboration with the Indore Municipal Corporation, blends cutting-edge technology with active citizen participation. Mishra commended this synergy, highlighting how Indore has created a replicable model that combines technical expertise with grassroots involvement.
Calling for national adoption of this success story, she emphasized documenting Indore’s achievements to guide other cities.
