Mandatory for milk vendors to keep fat measuring device at establishment

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): ollector and District Magistrate Mr. Ashish Singh has issued restrictive orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023 in view of prevention of infectious diseases caused by the use of adulterated and adulterated milk in Indore district, prevention and control of sale of adulterated and adulterated milk from the point of view of public health safety. According to this order, every milk vendor will have to compulsorily keep a fat measuring device at the establishment to identify adulteration in milk.

As per the order issued, all milk vendors / dairy operators in the entire revenue boundary area of ​​​​Indore district will have to compulsorily keep fat and SNF measuring device in their establishment. All milk vendors/dairy operators will compulsorily display the prescribed/standard quantity of fat and SNF in the milk being sold as per Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Regulations 2011 and the quantity present in the milk product by writing it electronically on the display or on the information board. All milk vendors/dairy operators will test the milk in front of the consumers if they wish and inform them about the quantity of fat and SNF. All milk vendors/dairy operators will provide necessary information and training regarding the measuring instrument to the consumers as per requirement. All milk vendors/dairy operators who supply milk door-to-door will ensure to keep the measuring instrument with them or to compulsorily mention the quantity of fat and SNF on the milk cartons/cans along with the date every day. It is mandatory for all milk vendors/dairy operators to maintain a record of milk arrival and sale every day as per the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Regulations 2011. Also, it will be mandatory to record the information of Fat and SNF in the said register. Food Safety Officers posted in the district will conduct investigations from time to time regarding compliance of all the above points. If any irregularity is found, the Food Safety Officer will prepare a case under the Food Safety Act 2006 and Regulations 2011 and present it in the competent court.

In case of violation of the order, action will be taken under Section 223 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure 2023. This order has come into effect immediately and will remain effective till 3 April 2025.
