Punjab (Team Newsbuddy). Police arrested a smuggler with the seizure of 30 kg of heroin and claimed to have busted a gang smuggling drugs from across the border. According to the police, the drug was being smuggled from Pakistan using drones and it is the biggest consignment seized so far this year.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, “In an intelligence-based operation, Amritsar rural police has busted a gang smuggling drugs from across the border, police recovered 30 kg heroin from a car and arrested a drug smuggler.
Drones were used to bring the drugs from Pakistan. “The arrested accused was involved in large-scale smuggling of heroin and it is reported that recently he had recovered a large consignment of heroin smuggled through drones from across the border,” he said. He said an FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Gharinda police station. Yadav said investigation is underway to identify other persons involved and unearth the smuggling gang.
