BIS hosts seminar on safety parameters

Raipur (TEAM NEWS BUDDY).Licensing seminar for promoting participation in Certification,Standard, Testing and Standard Promotion activities for the product Steel Tubes for Idlers of Belt Conveyor organized by Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) at Hotel Shamrock Green Border Jordanian, Raipur. A standard brain storming programme was organized on the Specification’ draft. In this seminar Dibyendu Chakraborty, Scientist-G and Deputy Director General (Eastem Region), Sumit Kumar Scientist-D/Deputy Director General and Head Raipur Branch Office, Alok Sahu, Director, Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Raipur and Sudhir Ramakrishna, General Manager Bhilai Steel Plant were present. More than 200 licensees of Bureau of Indian Standards participated in this program. Sumit Kumar, Head, Raipur Branch Office, Bureau of Indian Standards, welcomed the delegates to the workshop and apprised then of the various activities of the Bureau of Indian Standards. Chief Guest of the programme Divyendu Chakaborty, Scientist and Deputy Director General (Eastern Region) congratulated the Bureau of Indian Standards for the significant efforts made in helping the States in bringing simple and comprehensive regulations integrating various important safety parameters. He urged the delegates to fully utilize the opportunity to understand the draft regulations and suggest improvements, if any. Divyendu Chakraborty elaborated on the content of various chapters of the draft rules along with the distinctive features of the document and urged the participants to critically examine the document and share their valuable feedback with Bureau of Indian Standards.
During the programme, the license holders of Bureau of Indian Standards were given information about various portals of Bureau of Indian Standards and were also told how to participate in the standardization process. Also, license holders were given information about various changes in the certification processes of Bureau of Indian Standards and various problems were resolved. Manak Manthan was organized in the second session of this program. In which ‘Specification for Steel Tubes for Idlers of Belt Conveyors (IS 9295), Mild Steel Wire for General Engineering Applications (IS) 280:2006) and Filler Gauge Specification (IS 3179) were discussed and given by the participants. The comments made were sent to the Technical Committee.
