2 min read

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy):The trial run of the first hydrogen train in India is going to start , the second day of Navratri. This train will cover a distance of 89 km on Jind-Sonipat route of Delhi Division. After successful testing, this train will be operated regularly. With this move, India will join the category of countries like Germany, France and China, which are working towards environmental protection by adopting green mobility.

Features of hydrogen train
HOG (Head On Generation) technology is used in hydrogen trains to save electricity. Also, energy efficient LED lights and solar powered railway stations make this project more eco-friendly. Hydrogen trains not only emit zero pollution but will also help the railways achieve the target of becoming a ‘net zero carbon emitter’ by 2030.

Technical features
According to the railways, this train will run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph. It will have a total of 8 coaches, in which 2,638 passengers will be able to travel. The engine of the train will be equipped with a power of 1200 horsepower (HP), which makes it one of the world’s highest capacity hydrogen trains.

Plan to run diesel train with hydrogen
Railways has also started a project to operate a diesel-powered DEMU train with hydrogen fuel cells. Under this project, hydrogen fuel cells will be installed in trains and the necessary infrastructure will be developed. Currently work is going on on this and soon it will also be implemented.

If this project is successful, India’s railway system will not only become more environmentally friendly, but will also set a new record in the use of clean energy.
