2 min readRaipur(TEAM NEWS BUDDY).There was talk of metro rail service in Chhattisgarh for the last several years but now the new government is going to bring it on the ground. In the first meeting of NRDA officers after taking over the Housing Environment Department, Minister OP Choudhary informed the officials about his dream project. On the instructions of the Minister, NRDA officials have started working on metro rail service.
Till now there was talk of metro train between Raipur and Durg. But OP Choudhary wants it to be extended to Rajnandgaon. With this, more and more people will be able to get the benefit of metro service. Anyway, Durg and Rajnandgaon are almost connected to Naya Rapyur. A large number of people from Rajnandgaon, Durg, Bhilai come to Raipur for job, business and studies. It takes two to two and a half hours to reach Raipur by road from Rajnandgaon. Whereas, it will take one and a half hour by metro.
NRDA officials told that there are two types of metro rail. First light metro. Its cost is approximately Rs 120 crore per kilometer. And the second one is traditional i.e. normal metro. This costs approximately Rs 220 crore per kilometre. Currently, discussions are being held on whether light metro or traditional metro should be run in Chhattisgarh. Since OP Choughri has the finance department and this is his dream project. So, there will be no problem in managing the amount. Officials believe that if everything goes well, the metro rail service between Naya Raipur and Rajnandgaon will start before the assembly elections next year.
