New Delhi. The Election Commission (EC) has just announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, while addressing the press conference, said that the festival of elections is the pride of the country.

The time which was awaited for a long time has finally arrived. The Election Commission is announcing the dates of Lok Sabha elections . While addressing the press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar first said that elections are a festival, pride of the country. He told that this time 96.8 crore voters are going to cast their votes. That means about 97 crore people will vote in the Lok Sabha elections. In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, there are about 1.8 crore voters who are going to vote in any election for the first time. Apart from this, the number of voters between 20-29 years of age is 19.47 crore. The Election Commission has said that candidates who have criminal records will have to give advertisements giving this information thrice.
The total voters include 49.7 crore men, 47.1 crore women and 48 thousand transgenders. According to Election Commission data, the voter sex ratio across the country is 948, with 12 states and union territories having more female voters than male voters. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “Our voter list includes 82 lakh voters above 85 years of age and 2.18 lakh voters above 100 years of age.”
