Ban on to conduct broadcast on exit polls from April 19 to June 1

Raipur. The Election Commission of India has banned the conduct and broadcast of any kind of exit poll from 19 April to 1 June. Issuing a notification in this regard by the Commission, the conduct and broadcast of any kind of exit poll during this period has been banned under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

The notification issued by the Election Commission of India states that in view of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, there will be a ban on conducting any kind of exit poll in the context of the Lok Sabha general election during the period from 7 am on 19 April 2024 to 6.30 pm on 1 June 2024 and publishing or publicizing its results by print or electronic media or publicizing it in any other way.
The Commission has also clarified in the notification that under Section 126(1)(b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the display of any election related matter, including the results of any opinion poll or any other opinion survey, in any electronic media shall be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the time fixed for the conclusion of the poll in the respective Lok Sabha constituencies in the Lok Sabha Election-2024.
