Narayanpur (Team Newsbuddy): Vaidyaraj Hemchand Manjhi, a resident of village Chhotedongar of the district, was honored with Padma Shri by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, which is a matter of pride for the district and the state. Hemchand Manjhi devoted his entire life to the discovery of these herbs and has been serving thousands of people by treating their diseases for almost five decades. Due to this tireless service to the general public, the central government decided to honor him with Padma Shri. He has treated people in many diseases through herbs.
It is noteworthy that Manjhi decided to treat people with herbs in Chhotedongar at a time when there were no health facilities here at all. Despite no one in the family being in the profession of a Vaidya, he took this decision due to the spirit of service. Due to his experience, his knowledge increased and apart from Narayanpur district, patients from the state and the country also come to him for treatment.
Manjhi says that there is magic in the medicinal herbs of Bastar. We collect different types of herbs from the forest. We mix them in proper proportion and treat different types of diseases in this way. We diagnose the disease by looking at the pulse and treat it accordingly. Many times when people get discouraged about the treatment of diseases like cancer with allopathy, then they come here and by the grace of God, they get cured by the miracle of our medicines. More than a hundred patients reach Manjhi every day. He told that honey, cloves and other spices have to be added in appropriate quantity in the medicinal herbs. He says that as long as there is breath in the body, I will continue to do this service. He is also teaching this to the coming generation. Collector Bipin Manjhi has congratulated Vaidyaraj Hemchand Manjhi on being awarded Padma Shri. Collector Manjhi said that this honour has made the district proud.
