Saga of Indore ki kachori, over weight baggage and local porters

New Delhi: Have you ever eaten Indore ki kachori? Puffy, large and looking like they could burst any time the kachoris can make your eyes open up with anticipation. And that’s just what happened. Having sworn to myself that I wouldn’t succumb to them, since the battle of the girth is always going on, I went against all promises to myself and bit into one! The smell and taste was so enticing that I was defeated. I allowed the bite to linger on my tongue and chewed it slowly allowing the flavours to take over completely.
In Indore for the uninitiated there is not only savoury like kachori and samosa but the sweets like jalebi and milk cake which make all resolutions of dieting deplete rapidly! So I gave in. Pure joy of eating. And so many places to choose from: 56 Dukaan, Rajwada, Sarafa, Anand Bazaar etc. Each is unique: whether it’s Prashant ke poha, Johnny hot dog, Ram Lakshman ki jalebi or kadha chamach lassi or buttermilk at Sarafa gali. Take your pick and also fortify yourself with tablets for a good stomach!
Happy eating! But what happened later is another story, because I volunteered to take some goodies back home to Delhi not only for myself but for others as well. In the excitement I didn’t weigh the baggage and sure enough when I reached the airport the girl behind the counter informed me that the baggage was overweight! So out snapped the extra cash and I put my heavy handbag 👜 into the checked in luggage.
At Delhi I retrieved my bags and reached home safely. When I needed to give the eats to others I engaged a local porter to take the sweets to my relatives. Being not too well versed with the new app I bungled and two instead of one porter arrived at my doorstep! Finally after much talk the matter was resolved and the Indore sweets reached their destination! So such is the saga of the Indore victuals.
