Court sentences Sanjay Raut to 15 days imprisonment in defamation case

Mumbai (Team Newsbuddy). Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut has been convicted in the defamation case. Sanjay Raut has been sentenced to 15 days in jail and a fine of Rs 25,000. This case was filed against Sanjay Raut by Medha Kirit Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. Sanjay Raut had accused Kirit Somaiya’s wife’s NGO of an alleged Rs 100 crore scam.
In the year 2022, Sanjay Raut had alleged that the NGO of Medha Kirit Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, is involved in an alleged Rs 100 crore scam in the construction of toilets built in Mira Bhayander area of Mumbai. Kirit Somaiya rejected Sanjay Raut’s allegations calling them baseless and demanded proof of the scam. When Sanjay Raut did not provide proof, Kirit Somaiya’s wife Medha Kirit Somaiya filed a defamation case against Sanjay Raut.
Medha Somaiya said in her complaint that Sanjay Raut made many baseless allegations about the alleged scam and all these were published in the media and circulated to a large section of people. Now the Metropolitan Magistrate of Mumbai has held Raut guilty of defamation and sentenced him
