Onion prices are increasing due to delay in Kharif crop: Purandar Mishra

Raipur(Team Newsbuddy): Efforts started by the Central Government in public interest to control the rising prices of onion. The Central Government has decided to sell onions at the rate of Rs 35 per kg. Due to the delay in the arrival of Kharif crop, the prices of onion are increasing. Due to the continuously increasing price of onion, it has been decided to sell 35 kg of onion at Safal outlets in Delhi.

In this series, this public welfare work started in Chhattisgarh, in which the vehicles were flagged off by Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra from the Jagannath Temple office located in Gayatri Nagar. MLA Mishra said that the prices of onion are increasing due to the delay in the arrival of Kharif crop than normal. Due to the ever-increasing rates of onion, it has been decided to sell 35 kg of onion at Safal outlets in Raipur. To provide relief to consumers from the increased prices, NCCF is selling cheap onions at 457 retail stores in 54 cities of 20 states. The government will now sell onions at the rate of 35 in Chhattisgarh Raipur.

NCCF starts retail points in 20 states

MLA Purandar Mishra said that to maintain the availability of onions among the people, NCCF has started 457 retail points in 54 cities of 20 states. Kendriya Bhandar has also started retail supply of onions through its retail outlets in Delhi NCR from September 3, 2024. Retail sale of onions in southern states including Telangana is being done by Hyderabad Agriculture Cooperative Association. According to the government, the buffer size of onion has been increased from 2.5 to 7 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2023-24. So far 5.06 lakh metric tonnes of onion has been purchased. Now the remaining 2 lakh metric tonnes of onion is being purchased. Senior social worker Gopal Agarwal was present on this occasion.
