India-Maldives ink many important agreements
1 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy) : Bilateral talks were held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu .
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal issued a statement on the social media platform X and said that several agreements have been reached in the meeting between the PM and Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu.
A currency swap agreement of $400 million has been signed between India and Maldives.
An MoU has been signed between the National Defense University of the country and the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement of Maldives
An MoU has been signed between the CBI and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives to prevent corruption
An MoU has been signed between India and Maldives regarding mutual cooperation in sports and youth affairs
PM Modi, while addressing a press conference with Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu, said that the relations between India and Maldives are centuries old. India is Maldives’ closest neighbour and close friend.
He said that Maldives also has an important place in the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision.
The Prime Minister informed that RuPay card has been launched in Maldives and in the coming time, work will be done to connect India-Maldives with UPI as well.
Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu’s four-day visit to India started on Sunday. Muizzu’s visit is ending on October 10.
