Money showered on Indian hockey players in auction
1 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): The Women’s Hockey India League is being organized for the first time. In the auction, teams spent a lot of money for Indian players. Names like Indian captain Salima Tete, young player Udita Duhan, Laremsiami Hamarzote and former captain Savita Poonia proved to be expensive. However, more money was showered on junior players than captain Salima Tete.
All the teams had a purse of Rs 2 crore from which they had to buy 24 players. Indian captain Salima Tete was added by Surma Hockey Club for Rs 20 lakh. After men’s team captain Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the women’s team also came to Punjab.
At the same time, the most expensive player of the day was defender Udita Duhan, for whom a fight was seen between many teams. Eventually, after a long bidding battle between Surma and Bengal, Duhan was bought by Bengal Tigers for Rs 32 lakh, which is less than half the price of the most expensive player in the men’s league
