Vice President visits development exhibition at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University campus

Raipur(TEAM NEWS BUDDY) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the inauguration ceremony at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University campus on the occasion of the foundation day of the university. Inspected various stalls of agricultural start up, biotech and agricultural science center in the development exhibition. During this, Prembai Kunjam and Milan Bai Uike, who came from Bagrum Nala village of Dhamtari district, told Vice President Dhankhar that the women of their group produce fragrant rice in Nagari Dubraj. Whose price is Rs 120 per kilogram.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar showed special interest in Chhattisgarh Linen fabric made from flax stalk. Senior agricultural scientist Dr. K. P. Verma told that flax stalks which were not useful at all till now, are now being used to make clothes under the ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign.

During the inspection of the exhibition of small grain crops planted from Bastar zone, the Vice President curiously took information about the crops. Dr. Rahul Sahu, who came from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kanker, told Vice President Dhankhar that 500 women of self-help groups are associated with him, who are earning their living by producing and processing small grain crops like Kodo, Kutki, Ragi. In the stall set up by the Agricultural Science Center, Korea District, the Vice President took information about Karma Jeeraful rice and also expressed his desire to take it along.
Deepak Sharma, Chairman of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, informed the Vice President about Rice Sanjeevani developed through research at the Agricultural University. He told that this rice works as an immunity booster and is also anti-cancer.
While giving information about Kera Bastar coconut developed by Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, the members of Agriculture College, Jagdalpur told the Vice President that this variety has been produced in non-traditional areas like Chhattisgarh.
