Tourists bus falls into Alaknanda river , 14 people killed
2 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): A tragic accident happened with the tourists who came to visit Uttarakhand from Gurugram.
Traveler vehicle full of tourists went out of control from the Badrinath National Highway near Rudraprayag and fell into the banks of the Alaknanda river flowing about 300 meters below.
14 people have died and 12 people are injured in this accident.
Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said, “A tempo traveler vehicle carrying 26 people from Gurugram to Tungnath-Chopta crashed near Rudraprayag headquarters at 11.30 am on Saturday.”
He said, “Till late evening, a total of 14 people have been confirmed dead in the incident, out of which 3 people have not been identified yet.”
“This incident happened near a place called Raitoli, located about 7 km from Rudraprayag district headquarters.”
“On Friday night around 10 o’clock, tourists from Delhi left for Chopta in Uttarakhand in a car.”
Nandan Singh Rajwar said, “As soon as the news of the incident was received, SDRF, DDRF, Police, Water Police, Home Guard along with local people reached the spot for rescue.”
“With everyone’s help, the injured were taken from the deep ditch to the road.”
“The vehicle fell into a ditch about 300 meters deep from the road, due to which 10 people died on the spot, while 14 people were rescued and admitted to the District Hospital Rudraprayag.”
“On reaching the hospital, doctors declared one person dead. Another person died during treatment.”
He said that seven people seriously injured in this accident were airlifted. Two more people died after reaching AIIMS Rishikesh. “
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached AIIMS Rishikesh on Saturday evening and inquired about the condition of the injured tourists admitted there and took information from the doctors.
Chief Minister Dhami has directed to provide financial assistance of two lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased.,
The CM has also directed to provide financial assistance of Rs 40,000 each to the seriously injured and Rs 10,000 each to the general injured.
