2 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy). The Indian Navy is going to test state-of-the-art equipment under ‘Project 75 India (P75I)’ in Spain. According to Navantia, a Spanish shipbuilding (shipyard) company, after this test, the Indian Navy will add six modern submarines to its fleet.
Contract will be signed with Government of India
Navantia Chairman Ricardo Dominguez Garcia Baquero says that the Spanish government and the Navy are very excited about the P75I and want to help India in this project in every way. A contract will be signed with the Government of India under this scheme. The head of Navantia said that from the last week of June, the Indian Navy will start Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) testing at the shipyard in Cartagena.
Six submarines will be included in Navy fleet
Ricardo Dominguez further said that Larsen & Turbo (L&T) company will assist him in this test. During the test, the Indian Navy will be given information about world class AIP technology. It was further told that the Indian Navy will acquire six submarines equipped with AIP technology. With the help of this technology, submarines can stay underwater for a long time. The Indian Navy did not have submarines with AIP system before this.
Along with L&T and Navantia, Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and India’s Mazagon Dockyards Limited are also involved in this project worth about 60 thousand crores. Navantia has offered the design of the S-80 submarine for the Indian Navy project. One of these submarines has joined the Spanish Navy in the year 2024. Navantia claimed that the special thing about S80 is that it easily meets the technology requirements of P75 (I) without the need for any reconstruction.
