New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday spoke in the Rajya Sabha regarding the landslide incident in Wayanad, Kerala. Surrounding the Left government of Kerala, he said that the Kerala government was already warned in view of the possibility of such a disaster. He alleged that usually many states pay attention to such warnings, but the Kerala government ignored it.
Amit Shah expressed condolences to those who lost their lives in the landslide in Wayanad. He said, “I express my condolences to the families of all those who have been killed and injured in this incident.” He further said, “I want to clarify in front of the House that on 23 July, the Government of India had warned the Kerala government. After this, warnings were again issued on 24 and 25 July. On 26 July, it was told that there will be more than 20 cm of rainfall, there is a possibility of landslides. Soil can also fall and people can die by getting buried in it.” Amit Shah further said, “I did not want to say anything on this, but questions were raised on the Early Warning System of the Government of India, so I say please listen to us. Don’t shout, listen to us. Read the warning that has been sent.” Taking a jibe at the Kerala government, he further said that there are state governments in this country that have done Zero Casualty Disaster Management by using this type of warning. When Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Minister of Odisha, we sent a cyclone alert seven days in advance, only one person died, that too by mistake. We sent a cyclone alert to the Gujarat government three days in advance, not even a single animal died.
