Ambani’s home built on orphanage of Waqf Board’s land!
3 min readMumbai (Team Newsbuddy): Karim Bhai Ibrahim had waqfed his ancestral land in 1986 with the promise from Maharashtra Waqf Board that the Waqf Board would build orphanage and educational institutions on this land.*
The Waqf Board betrayed Karim Bhai Ibrahim and instead of building an orphanage and school, sold that land to rich Ambani by flouting the law. Ambani built Antilia for his residence!
The Waqf Board, contrary to the rules, sold the land waqfed by Karim Bhai Ibrahim by somehow persuading only 5 members out of the 9-member committee instead of the required one-third majority. The priceless land which the Mumbai Waqf Board has sold to Mukesh Ambani. Ambani has built Antilia on the same land, in comparison and pattern of the world’s most valuable Buckingham Palace. This deal was completed in the year 2002. This land is of a different type in the world, now let’s know the size of this different type of land – Ambani has bought a plot of 4,532.39 square meters for only Rs 21.5 crore. Waqf – This deal of Ambani has been in controversy from the beginning, as a result, this purchase and the purchase process adopted has been challenged in the Mumbai High Court. In a conspiratorial manner, the court is adjourning the dates so that the interests of the highly influential wealthy group are not affected.
As we have mentioned in the previous post, the Modi government tried to take over all the properties of the Waqf Board by issuing a notice in August 2023, when it could not succeed, now it has made a plan to make changes in the Waqf Act on the pretext of amending it.
The central government is going to make 44 amendments through the Waqf Board Act Amendment Bill 2024. The government is officially saying that the purpose of bringing this bill is better management and operation of Waqf properties. The name of the Waqf Act will be changed to Integrated Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act 1995. There will be proper representation of Muslims and non-Muslims in the Central Waqf Council and State Waqf Board. Other Backward Classes, Shia, Sunni, Bohra, Agakhani will be represented in Muslim communities. Along with this, women will be given proper representation. It will be mandatory to have two women in the Central Council and State Waqf Board. There may not be any opposition to the inclusion of women, but how can the inclusion of different sects be practically appropriate. When the bill is made public, it will be known what is the actual intention, destiny and purpose of the government.
In a democracy, it is better to make any kind of amendment – change by winning the consensus and trust of the concerned community. Historically, the Waqf Board has been a constitutional institution of a particular community. You neither have the numbers to represent this community, nor is your thinking and concern visible in your policies and plans. This government has been taking decisions on the basis of majority, this is the need of the hour, taking a constitutional decision on Waqf will be acceptable to all.
The functioning of Waqf has been criticized for selling land to Ambani, but the people of Tiruchirapalli are building temples and doing puja, farming and gardening by taking permission on the land of Tamil Nadu Waqf Board. Natural brotherhood cannot be stopped by making laws, nor can the government display so-called brotherhood for its own benefit of power.

Video of September 2022, A video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went viral on social media. In this video, Arvind Kejriwal said that Mukesh Ambani’s house was built on Waqf Board land and said that if his government was in Maharashtra, his house would have been demolished.
Addressing the Muslims, Arvind Kejriwal said that “Whenever you need it… Kejriwal and the Delhi government are completely with the Waqf Board with body, mind and money. The richest man of this country in Bombay, he says that his house is built on the property of Wakf Board.” After this he asks the people present there, “Am I saying anything wrong?” .
