4 min read

Bhilai (Team Newsbuddy): On the occasion of Hiroshima Day Jan Sangharsh Morcha Chhattisgarh organized a convention in Community Hall Sector-6 Bhilai against the genocide of Palestinian people by Israel and the increasing communal fascist repression in the state of Chhattisgarh. The convention was held in two sessions. The first session focused on “The gruesome genocide of Palestinian people by Israel and the resistance”. The keynote speaker was Comrade Shankar (famous leftist thinker, writer and convener of the Coordination Committee of Left Democratic Organizations of South East Asia for the Liberation of Palestine). The session was chaired by Prasad Rao, convener of Jan Sangharsh Morcha Chhattisgarh and conducted by Tuhin (convener, Revolutionary Cultural Forum). The second session focused on “The increasing Manuwadi fascist corporate repression on tribals, Dalits/oppressed and minorities in Chhattisgarh and resistance”. The second session was introduced by Comrade Kaladas Dahriya (Convener, Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha Mazdoor Karyakarta Samiti and Rela Cultural Forum). Distinguished speakers included Comrade Lakhan Subodh (President Guru Ghasidas Sevadar Sangh), Advocate Shakir Qureshi (Convener Rashtriya Muslim Morcha), Comrade Saura (CPI-ML Red Star State Secretary), Comrade Janak Lal Thakur (President Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha), Savita Bauddh “Sankalpi” (Founder, Buddhist Pracharak Wing), Comrade Neera (Convener, Mahila Mukti Morcha), Manju ji (Social Worker), Tejram Vidrohi (Convener Bharatiya Kisan Union and Member Samyukta Kisan Morcha State Committee), Shri Gill, Waji Ahmed (Chairman of Masjid Committee), Purushottam, Vicky, Sitesh, Mithlesh and Shariq Ali (all students), Basant Sahu and L K Sahu (both CMM). Comrade R N Yadav and Comrade Kaladas presented revolutionary songs. Vote of thanks was given by Sajjad Bhai. At the beginning of the convention, tribute was paid to those killed in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Gaza and entire Palestine and Wayanad Kerala. At the end of the convention, Resolutions were passed unanimously to immediately stop the genocide by the war criminal Israel in Gaza and to immediately stop the aid being given by the Government of India to the rogue nation Israel – sending arms, labourers and diplomatic support, against the mob lynching of Muslim youth in the name of cow protection and religious conversion in Chhattisgarh / murders by saffron goons and atrocities on the people of the Christian community in Chhattisgarh, and against harassing comrades like Kaladas Dahriya who fight to save water, forest and land from the vulture eyes of the corporates through NIA raids and against changing the Constitution / amending / ending / limiting caste based reservation through judicial initiative.

Speakers associated with the mass movements said that everyone is well aware that communal tension has been increasing in the state of Chhattisgarh for the last several months and minorities, especially people from the Christian and Muslim communities and Dalit / oppressed people are being harassed by majoritarian religious saffron fanatics. Sometimes mob lynching or violent incidents are being committed in the name of religious conversion and sometimes in the name of cow protection. In response to these hooliganisms by the saffron brigade, the victims are not getting any justice from the police administration. Apart from this, due to the promotion of looting of water, forest and land of the state by highly corrupt crony corporate houses like Adani under the aegis of the government, the oppression of tribals is increasing in tribal-dominated Chhattisgarh including Bastar, Hansdev Forest. Murders in fake encounters, rapes, atrocities in custody and putting innocent tribals in jails have become an everyday affair. The poison of hatred and division is being spread among the people under the leadership of RSS fascist forces. The victims of which are Dalits/oppressed people and women including minorities. The situation is more or less the same in the whole country.

As the keynote speaker, Comrade Shankar said that the Zionist war criminal Israel, at the instigation of the US Imperialism, has been carrying out a horrific massacre for ethnic cleansing of Palestinian Arabs in Gaza since last October. The remaining Palestinian population was forcibly sent by Israel from the south to the north in Gaza and Rafah. Now the murderous Israeli state is carrying out a gruesome genocide in Rafah, crossing all limits of barbarism. So far, about 40,000 Palestinians, two third of whom are children, patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and innocent Palestinians living in refugee camps (which Israel was calling safe zones), have been killed by Israel in Gaza and the surrounding Palestinian areas. The entire Gaza has become a graveyard. In this heinous crime against humanity, Israel is getting ample arms and other help from its master American imperialism. The most worrying thing is that India, which has been a strong supporter of the Non-Aligned Movement from the very beginning and has been opposing Israel while supporting the Palestine Liberation Movement, has today done a 180 degree turn by the ruling fascist forces and is providing diplomatic support including arms and ammunition to the war criminal Israel. Moreover, on the insistence of fascist Israel, the Indian government is sending Indian workers to the war-torn Israeli and Palestinian areas, putting their lives in danger. There is every possibility that the conflict/genocide in Gaza will now engulf the entire world.

The comrades present in the convention unanimously passed the resolution that we, the residents of Bhilai Durg, want that all of us peace-loving, progressive people jointly take an oath on the occasion of Hiroshima Day through this public convention that we will maintain our solidarity with Palestine, which is forced to suffer extreme barbarism. Also, we will raise our voice against the increasing fascist and corporate repression on the tribals, Dalits/oppressed and minorities in Chhattisgarh.
