Vinod Sharma of South-East Central Railway wins Chess title
2 min readRaipur(Team Newsbuddy) : On the second day of the two-day first inter-institutional chess competition “Shatranj Ke Chaturbhuang” organized by South-East Central Railway Sports Association, the remaining rounds of the team event and individual event were played.
Vinod Sharma of South-East Central Railway secured the first position in the individual event. He was awarded the title of “Shatranj Ka Chaturbhuang” while Yogesh Pandey of Audit Office secured the second position. Deepak Rajput, a player of Accountant General of India (Audit) Office secured his place in the third place.
In the team event, Audit Office secured the first position in which Yogesh Pandey led. At the same time, the team of WRS led by Lakshmi Narayan was in second place / The team members of South East Central Railway in third place were Vinod Kumar Sharma, Ravi Kumar Pathak, Manoj Kumar of Harivansh Aggarwal.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar was present as the chief guest in the closing ceremony of the competition. He congratulated all the players of all the central departments who participated in the competition and also announced to continue organizing such big events! Senior Sports Officer of the division Rahul Garg assured to make the upcoming competitions even bigger. The winners were given trophies, certificates and cash prizes!
Divisional Sports Secretary Deepak Pradhan thanked the Divisional Railway Manager, Senior Sports Officer, all the players participating in the competition, sponsors Ultratech, Union Bank of India, SBI and all the departments and expressed his gratitude.
This two-day inter-institutional chess competition which was organized for 80 offices of the Central Government was the first such event in Chhattisgarh.
