11 people died due to lightning
1 min readWest Bengal (Team Newsbuddy): At least 11 people died due to lightning at different places in Malda district on Thursday. An official gave this information. He said that many people have also been injured in these incidents. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed grief over the death of people and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. Banerjee said on ‘X’, “I express my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones due to lightning in Malda. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.” The official told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that the district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased. He said, “11 people have died due to lightning. Many injured people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Some of them are in critical condition.”
The police said that the deceased included two minors from Manichaak police station area and three people from Sahapur in Mala police station area. According to the police, two others were from Adina in Gajol police station area and Balupur in Ratua police station area.
The police said that a couple working in a field in Harishchandrapur also died due to lightning. According to the police, the rest of the people who lost their lives due to lightning were residents of Englishbazar and Manichaak police station area.
