2 min read

Bilaspur (Team Newsbuddy): The district administration has started preparations to take possession of the city’s oldest and largest private hospital Mission Hospital premises. The Mission Hospital management had filed a petition in the High Court seeking a stay against the eviction notice of the District Administration and Nazul Branch. The High Court, justifying the administrative action, has dismissed the petition, refusing to stay the service of the notice.

On the instructions of Collector Avnish Sharan, the Nazul Department had issued a notice to the Mission Hospital management to vacate the premises. The Nazul Department had given seven days’ time for this. If we look at the eviction notice and time issued by the Nazul Department, Monday is the last day of the stipulated deadline. In view of this, it is believed that the district administration will take possession of the Mission Hospital premises any day after Monday. Mission Hospital management had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the notice issued by the District Administration and Nazul Branch. The hospital management had sought a stay on this. After hearing the case, the High Court refused to grant a stay and dismissed the petition.

Termination of lease and dispute:

Mission Hospital was established in the year 1885. Mission Hospital was given on lease. On the application received for renewal of lease in 1966, the lease was extended till the year 1994. After this, the hospital management has not renewed the lease. A condition was also placed with the lease that without the permission of the Collector, its construction will not be changed and commercial activities will not be conducted. Despite this, without permission and even after the expiry of the lease period, lakhs of rupees of rent is being collected for the last 30 years by renting the premises for commercial use.

The same application submitted for renewal was rejected by the Nazul Court in the year 2024. Mission management approached the High Court against the Nazul court. But the High Court refused to issue a stay order.

Commercial use of hospital premises:

Mission Hospital management is also accused of earning money by renting out the land which has been leased for charity. A complaint has also been made to the district administration regarding this.
